Fox RC "suck"
« on: April 06, 2006, 21:44:06 PM »

hey, came back from a pretty hard days riding, checked bike over, and noticed the bottom out bumper has been "sucked" into the shock body. pulled it out, no leaks or problems....so, did the best thing...left it to next day, and went riding again. same happened. think im bottoming it out too hard, and somehow pulling a bit of the bumper into the shock.

has anyone else had this problem?! and how may it be rectified, other than a different spring weight, as, i cant get one closer to the recomemded weight unless i go over.

cheers

yea, only thing with compression damping is it makes the bike less sensetive on the smaller bumps. but, will give it a go.

cheers

compression damping should be off, unless you want it to blow...

Do you need a heavier spring?

compression is right off anyways, and i recommended a 575, so, have a 550 with a few turns. i wrekon 600 would feel a lil "sticky" for me. i duno, see how goes

cheers DHO, will see how it works in morning. if its screwed, then, will prob just send it off for a service/tune anyways.

oooh, that begs another question, for dropping/racing on the same rig, is there a sus tuner better for the job?! and does anyone know how much better, push internals would make the shock?

cheers for the help guys, appreciate it.

Sorry mate, gonna hijack...

Which ones the compression, red or blue? Because the blue dial on mine is really stiff and was since new, dont wanna take an allen key to it and force it in case nastiness happens...

Compression is blue.

Unless, like Manitou, you thought that would be too simple, so you swapped it round...

Just buy a slightly heavier spring, the calculators from tf etc arnt 100% accurate they said I needed a 350 for my patriot but I  ended up buying a 450 which felt perfect. Felt like I kept bottoming out the 350. So just go get a stiffer spring.

Tom, what ever you do you need to trim off those bits of rubber as they would get sucked in. Yu r shock is quite plush though so maybe a bit of added compression won't go amiss, yes it might not be so sensitive on the smaller bumps but then it's the big bumps you should be worrying about anyway!

try the compression before a stiffer spring. Don't think I've got any 600s lying around but will have a look
