Demo 8 shock removal, er... how!
« on: April 10, 2006, 17:37:52 PM »

Right, could do with advice here, please !

On changing my head angle and BB height via the shock bolt position the cause of my increasing play in the back end of my demo 8 has become clear.... i need some new bushings. Embarrassed

Normally this is not an issue, i have the BETD kit and vinyl bushings for the swinger 4 way... from previous bikes... i tend to do nearly all my own maintanance...  Tongue

but, i'm well confused over how to remove the shock... i dont have a manual for the bike cos it was second hand... Angry

it looks a total nightmare and advice / experience would be really helpful. if i need to undo the linkages / trapeziodal plate then the torque needed for a rebuild would be massively useful... and any hints on how to do this without deconstructing the frame ( and where all the washers go that no doubt will explode out of the linkages) the less mucking about with the essentials of the frame would obviously would be the best way to go!

thanks...

all you need to do is undo the main linkage bolt for the top part of the linkage on the frame, then fold that part of the linkage back, and pull the shock out.
