Tips & Techniques using Windows Movie Maker??
« on: April 18, 2006, 16:42:43 PM »

Hey there, just wondering if you have any great techniques that can be used/created in windows movie maker. Cheers

P.S. is there a format where you can 'rewind' your clip in slow mo etc when its playing.

Any responses will be appreciated.  Grin

Need a bit of info here...... your PC is probably running XP service pack one , if this is the case, Movie maker will be very basic, go to the microsoft update page and get XP service pack 2 usually you will need to subscribe to the free xp updates but ist well worth it, when this is done WMM becomes an all together better product to use and offers a heck of a lot more effects etc Wink if you check out the videos posted by Chridley, they are all done on Movie Maker.

I think the WMM I have is pretty decent. But ive kinda used all the tricks and tips I can think of like Jumping in slow motion - taking a freeze frame  when in mid air (black and white) - Then carrying on with the clip using fades etc. I was just wondering if anyone else has any cool techniques they could share. Any ideas?

Thanks.

go onto paint create a white screen and save it, import it into your collections, when the song that your doing it to has a really fast drum beast ( if it has ) split the clip up into little parts, add the white screen between them and match the white screen upto the parts where you can hear the drum beats.

this only works with a drum beat that is really fast and dont do it on loads of clips else it looks tacky.

if youcut a clip so its shorter(so it starts as he takes off)then import another new clip(same one as before) clip at the same point then add another full length one and it looks like he comes up to the take off then replais and then he does the whole jump it looks cool. Smiley have a mess around you will see what i mean.

Ye that does look cool. Thanks man. I have currently tried creating a motion picture thing as a movie. i.e. when someone jumps it takes a pic of them taking off. Then the movie carrys on and takes another picture while in the air. Then carrys on and takes a picture of the landing. When faded and blended in, this effect looks really cool. Specially in slow motion  Wink
