Fractured Shoulder And Elbow
« on: April 21, 2006, 13:24:39 PM »

About 3 weeks ago i was out dirtjumping and um well basicly i crashed. Last jump on a 10pack first run of the day in the pooring rain haha. Dunno what happened, i think i went up a didgy side of the lip and the front end just dropped straight after it. Landed straight onto my head and shoulder and front fliped onto my arm.

Hurt like hell but i thought i was gonna be ok. Manged to walk to the car and tried to drive but couldnt. Got my dad to pick me up and he took me to A&E.

Once i was booked in or what ever u call it the nurse came to look at me. Old bitch diddnt even talk to me much, just said oh you have fallen of your bike oh dear, i told her i couldnt move my left side arma nd she wallked away. 6 hours later ! I was taken to see a doctor who when i explained i fell 5 ft onto my head had some kind of fit sent me to xray and found out i fractured my shoulder and elbow. 8 hours later i left A&E with a sexy slign and the smallest pain killers i have ever seen!

Bascily hospitals are abit of a joke and i cant move my arm. Even tho im alot betgter now still hurts, i diddnt even wanna ride that day i was dragged out haha!  Smiley

As the saying goes, 'you can lead a Rob to trails but you cannot teach him to jump'  Wink

Broke my ankle playing 5 a side last year, entered A&E at 11pm, left at 4am.

it really bugs me when you crash pretty bad and you go to hosp or to the docs and say you crashed on your bike and try to explain what its like and you can just see that they are thinking of cruising around hopping off curbs on little bikes and just see you as an exagerator

thats why i like these specialist medical services, they know the deal

hospitals are cunning! i was once went in after a drinking session because my side hurt and i kept chucking up lol, bloody hospital sent me home, then an hour later i called for an ambulance, and they just ignore my calls saying im drunk! ( by this time ive chucked everything up and in agony!) anyway so i go in the morning, they keep me in overnight said im constipated! then they sent me home, came back 2 hours later with more pain! then they say my kidneys are shagged, then they decide its my liver, send me home with some kidney pills

i return 2 hours later ina ambulance, straight into surgery with a severly inflammed appendix, on the verge of bursting!

moral is, hospitals are not only slow they are f'ing thick too  Tongue

dont slate the NHS
A & E are a very busy department and often deal with worse infuries first (ie they will deal woth someones head injury over someone elses broken arm)
you may have to wait, but in the end the job gets done, you get a plaster cast or whatever you need and they fix it for you

i have spent about 5% of my life in hospital this past year wit being traeated for cancer and they could npt be better, if theres a problem, they sorty it, if youre in pain, they sort it straight away. If you need an MRI scan they book it for the same day. the NHS have been an absolute godsend for me, both me and my family have been treated well, swe have never come across any bad nursing/ doctors/ consltants/registrars etc.

at the end of the day , A & E is a completely dfferent part of a hospital and will always be very very busy, i'd just appreciaste that we do have a free health service that work

rant over.

in my experience the hospitals near to Dh tracks know the score... i know shrewsbury hospital wont fob you off as soon as you mention the DH track... as theyve had enough broken bikers in over the year...
