Would like you all to be as brutally hoest as possible about what you think. Really trying to improve at the moment and being told what i'm doing wrong is a good place to start
yeah ditto! try cropping it down! my eyes tend to goto the burnt out sky or the burnt out helmet! Its quite soft, i see its at 21mm, what lens is that? Looks like you had it set to either Tv or manual cannot check fully so what settings apart from F4 at 1/200 did u use??

I saw the softness too, but I guess it's a layer of rain on the lens!
The only thing apart from the hippy in the background is i personally think the colours are a little bit washed out, a tad more saturation and i'd be happy.
Apart from that i quite like it.

I'm not here to make you feel better about your lack of talent.
Agree with others about the distracting person in the frame, would be nice to see the riders eyes too rather than the top of his lid. Good effort though.
17-40L soft? Take it back or test it for back focussing issues. Theirs no way L glass should be soft.
only at F4, many other people have reported the same thing on the forums I've browsed. Its just a quirk of the lens. Although, I do need to send a couple of my lenses for servicing...any idea how much it costs?
Ok,the picture is good in size and areas used well, could be cropped a tad more.Shame about the other photographer! Also, its blurry, including the guy.The skys way out of focus and way too bright.Adjusting the aperture as mentioned above would clear that. Also, run it at a slightly higher shutter speed and higher ISO.Other than that keep doing what you're doing as generally, its a good photo.

I think thats better. Its clearer, maybe a bit close to add any 'enviroment' to the shot, but I prefer the second.though the first would have a nice effect if you could get the guy in focus. The setting of the pic and the rest of it (other than sky) was fine, but as he was the main target hes gotta be spot on.
