2 crappy photos from saturday night, slate them all you wish.
« on: May 01, 2006, 15:07:29 PM »

Just messing around on the second with slow shutters and the likes, first is me doing a terrible wallride, camera set up by me button pushed by someone else.

All critism welcome, i know they are shitty.

Yeh the shadow in the first one is cool, I also like the way it's lit (car headlights?) gives the shot some form of border.

Well you cant call the first one crappy unless your talking about the riding  Tongue only kidding.

The way you got the flash set up iluminating the wall is really good, the angle is also excelent.

Not so sure about the 2nd one, if you feel like spending miles to much time in photoshop i think it might look quite good if you remove the rider to leave the shadow on the building

Haha nah the riding s well crappy,  thing is that was the worst one i did but the nicest looking photo,  bloody typical eh.

The second was just an experiment really,  i never play with slow shutters and that so thought i'd give it a shot,  i'm not keen on it either to be honest, nah i refuse to photoshop things out it's against my principals ha.

Thanks for the advice though.

Nah cropping wouldn't look right with this image, if i crop the right i have to crop the bottom out and that's not going to happen, i hate un uniform photos, i prefer them to be on correct size format (just a personal thing)

Also most my photos are more about the use of environments rather than the actual riding just so you all know ha.

They arnt crap, but I would say the first one is too far away,it does look good but leaves alot of space that isnt used.It does create a good focal point but it could have been possible to get a similar photo without all the wasted space.

The seconds ok,again its too far away from the subject and slow shutters are really hard to get right in riding. The colours pretty good, but everythings blurry which unless you have a tripod is hard to stay in focus. Also the guy riding is slightly over exposed. Finally, it would look better without the shadow.

Dont take any of what Ive said personally, but I put some photos up on another forum, and it got criticised simiarlaly. The fact is without criticism noone gets better very easily or quickly, so take it constructively and try to improve.

Not to sound bitchy but i hate tight photos,  all my photos are about the environment aswell as the riders,  i can't stand upclose photographs of riders i think it's boring and played out personally,   if you check all my photos my composition is generally always the same as that's how i like it personally.

As for the second that was jsut a mess about and nothing serious.

i totally agree.
i love that first wallride photo partly because of the setting; the shadows on the bits f the wall add to the feel of it.

i do like any decent riding photo but i think including more of the scene can sometimes add a whole new dimension to the photo.

james, that first photo is mint; consider it saved on my pc!

Thank you i'm honoured you'd feel the need to save it.

I think everyone just has their own opinion on what they'd like to see in a photo,  personally i like showing the surroundings especially on street as it's something that wasn't design to be ridden been rode and i think that's important,  just an upclose photo of someone on a wall shows they can wallride,  it hasn't really shown the steepness of the bank, the harshess the run up anything and i think that's important to get a grasp of how easy/hard the trick was etc.

maybe i'm jsut a touch pretentious?
