What method were you using to turn them into b&w? I hope it wasn't just mode -> grayscale. Was the original image overexposed or have you messed with the levels?

What method were you using to turn them into b&w? I hope it wasn't just mode -> grayscale. Was the original image overexposed or have you messed with the levels?

Mode -> Greyscale = BAD method. It also looks rubbish.

And yes, a lot of those look very overexposed. Did you shoot them on B&W film or the B&W setting on your digital camera? Or shoot colour and convert later?

I like them, some would say over exposed, others hi-key. personally i think that it creates a nice effect, but that might just be because i woudn't have done them that way myself and they have a different look to the b/w stuff i normally turn out.

never like to see people riding without a lid on though, lol

While the whole bumping the ISO thing is good to some extent, Digital noise isn't always the same as film noise. It varies wildly, and can look anything from very good to horrendously bad.. I've always found B&W film grain to be far more consistent.

Plus, you can always make a colour photo B&W, never the other way round Wink For this, even when shooting a portrait i know has to be black and white, i shoot colour. I think my conversion methods in PS are much better than in my camera..
