hey im looking at getting a camera?
im just looking for some recommendations
i have a budget of about a max of 400-500
what else can i put in the post im just looking for recommendations on cameras? just to see what other peeps think

because the forums still abit mad i cant see what your budget is and you havent said much about what type of photography youre wanting to get into

point n shoot?
slr, more professional?

im guessing youre wanting to get more into photography than just point n shoot style cameras and if you are youre in the same position as me. take a look at my thread http://forum.southerndownhill.com/index.php/topic,83910.0.html

have a look at http://www.photography-on-the.net its a Canon forum have a look at newbies and what they have bought.. DSLRS and points n shoot...

If you're after a compact/point and shoot but with quite a lot of user-override-ability so that you can tell the camera precisely what you want it to do, have a look at Canon's S80. My bro has just got one today and I must admit I have only read a few snippets of the manual so far but it looks pretty mint.

Otherwise, the entry level Canon dSLR would be cool, can't comment on Nikon, never had one.
