Back trouble!
« on: May 31, 2006, 08:54:25 AM »

 :'( my back hurts

since i started hauling a v10 around (04 model) and stopped riding xc, im having major pains in my lower back, like right at the point where my back turns into my arse.

im trying to suss out whats causing it, at the moment im thinking its my frame geometry, especially as i run 200mm 888's on it and its a wee bit slack,

jus wondering if anybody else has sufferd this and what if anything i can do about it.

would strength training my back help? do i need shorter forks?

ive been having some treatment from a sports therapist, who other than noting that my lower back is full of knotts hasnt highlighted any major problems and apperantly my lower back is quite well develop given my size and shape.

ive been for a scan at the hospital which turned up nothing and i havnt had any major offs which may have caused it.

im at my witts end, sleeping isnt easy and playing hide the suasage with my ladie is a distant memory  Sad

same with me, although mine was a result of too much benchpress. Mine was a muscular problem though, you have have just pulled it very slightly, with time it should get better.

Get yourself to a chiropractor..... You dont have to live with back pain. Its almost definately not you bike causing you the trouble, something in your back is not right. The Chiropractor will sort out your bones if they need sorting, and get rid off any muscular problems.... Plus if you play your cars right she'll be a fittie :-)

My girlfriend is a Chiropractor and i'm forever having my neck and back crunched, its ace!

Ive got a re-accuring back problem caused by a combination of Rugby and DH, the simple solution is to get a regular appointment with a chiropractor. I go every 6 months and although I dont much like being rubbed down by a 16 stone Scotsman he does the job every time.

Should be loads listed in the Yellow Pages, if you cant even have a bit of slap and tickle then its gone far enough!

your telling me, im ready to pop!

the physio i see dose a good job, but it dosnt last long.
i spoke to a chiropractor who said he didnt want to start treating me without knowing the cause in fear of doing more harm than good, it was he who sorted a scan (ultrasound) for me at the local hospital thinking it was a muscular problem.

its getting progressivly worse and is starting to effect my walking, im now immune to codine which was a fun ride.

back to the doctors i go........

i thought a 16 stone scotsman woul dbe right up your street considering you like to play with odd shaped balls  Tongue

Like that!

If its really bad there's always the hospital? If you can't walk properly surley the NHS should show some interest?

yeah they will, in 6 weeks time, and all else the doctor has offerd me is stronger pain killers which isnt what i want, well worth all that N.I i fork out though  Roll Eyes

oddly enough the private chiropractor i saw got me in for a scan 2 days later, cost me 35 quid though, i think ill give him a shout

effeting my walking was maybe a bit strong, but walking/standing for long periods aggrevates it, thank heaven i gotta desk job.

riding my bike is fine though....get your head round that one

I used to have that all of the time, i couldnt walk very far and i would get it, i went to see a private chiropractor and in 3 months i was sorted, i havent had it since. Just book a few appointments and see how you feel.

ive had loads of back problems and seriosuly just stop riding until its better because if you screw it up now badly it will be like that for most of your life, i had something similar, physio's are expensive so try and see a sports massager

How are your abs?
If your abs are weak then your back winds up trying to do the work of your abs too.
I have a Swiss Ball thing that is good for working all the core muscles.  Bloody hell does it hurt.  Smiley
