The wanna-be-pro-filmers come directors revolution?
« on: Today at 18:02:01 »

http://www.vincentlaforet.com/

watch this, then consider that it was taken using a standard SLR retailing at around £2,000

to get the same quality with a video camera you'd need to be spending around £30,000 or so!

a revolution?

and if you're wondering it's a Canon EOS 5D MKII

yeh the industry seems to be moving towards photographers having to do stills and film and visa versa and these cameras and ones like the red system are the ones that will do that , i think after i get a new body for stills i will get a back up one that shoots video.

a revolution?

Not really...

Your prices are a little skewed too, as Vincent La Foret used about £10000000 worth of glass on the front of the camera to produce that film.

The 5D is interesting, and produces some great images in certain situations, but it's the second generation video capable SLRs that will be truly impressive. The 5D has some pretty restrictive limitations.
