fork oil weight
« on: July 08, 2006, 12:13:59 PM »

hiya,

my mate has some stendec fork oils i think its 7.5
is this too light for a 10 stone rider, if it is what weight oil should i get to put in my 03 Dorado's because they are quite slower rebounded at the mo  and people say that the oil in the rebound leg is too thick so i need them changed

cheers Gav

You could always try e-mailing stendec or possibly tim flukes are ask them the same question. Always worth a try.

all manitous are supposed t take 5wt, it apparently can blow the seal in the lower leg, but thats only what tf said, i shudnt think 7.5 would be a problem. for the light or heavy issues, it depends how you like them to ride, theyl just move slower, wont be harder or anything, still sag the same amount etc, but theyll seem a fraction slower id have thought with comparison to a 5wt oil which is more than likely in them atm

7.5 will make the manitou really slow. they are very sensitive to oil chanegs even when the oil goes off they get real slow. Marzocchi or rockshox are not so bad. i woudl really say only use 5 or 6wt 7.5 will be very hard especially if you are under 13 stone.
