lucky/unlucky?
« on: July 12, 2006, 13:40:46 PM »

Had an off on Sunday just gone and, in spite of wearing my full face, got a pedal to me head when the bike fell on me. Thought of how unlucky I'd been at the time but concluded that the visor probably took some of the impact so it could have been a lot worse as it was only superficial in the end.

Anyone else had any objects find a sneaky way through your helmet/armour? Smiley

I've got a nice 3inch long scar on my stomach from a pedal cutting a deep line in it after a crash, through my 661 pressure suit about a year ago.  Works a charm on the ladies  Wink

You've done well there mate!  Lucky it wasnt more serious.

3", Nice! Smiley

As you say, got lucky. Cleaned it up at home but as there was a flap of skin thought I'd better got to the hospital and have it checked out. The nurse said to me, "you're lucky, if it had been a little lower than that you would have needed stitches in your eyebrow". I said "A little lower than that and it would have been me feckin eye!!" Cheesy

Nasty, I once face planted into the ground, and the peak of the full face bent down and scratched up my chin leaving a big graze, so my helmet saved me from injury and caused me injury at the same time Roll Eyes

I guess no matter what injuries you sustain with a full face it would almost always have been worse without it. I could have ended up looking (more) like sloth! Cheesy

Had a mate who snapped his steerer tube (This was before the era of triple clamps). Ripped the jaw piece of a full face and his lips off his gums on the rocks. Not a pretty sight.
