I think you have all missed the point here

Big budget films are shot on higher quality mediums and with better lenses. Films like Disorder and The Collective are shot on actual film rather than digital media and that is why they have such amazing colours etc. Unfortunately 16mm film is stupidly expensive which is why most films are shot on high quality digital media. Its interesting that you used Anti Gravity as an example, as in my opinion their footage looks well bellow par.   

if you're filming with a domestic type video camera, try "de-interlacing" the footage in whatever editing package you're using to give it a more filmic look.
