Quicktime help...

Hey, does anyone have any advice for why quicktime files dont play on my computer... i have the quicktime 7.1player!! When i try to view videos or songs on myspace or youtube or anything like that i just get the quicktime symbol with a question mark through it...  Embarrassed

Any help would be great,
