There is a well established trail in Macc forest, but due to United Utilities rules, you need permission to ride there. It's waaaay to wet to ride at the mo, but if you wanna ride, let me know and I can hook you up.

Macc forest is a closed dh track am affraid, they put chains up across sections of the course to prevent riding it.  I am not sure what the current situation is at the moment, I haven't been up in a while.  Am affraid I cant give out the location either.

Sorry dude, but that ain't true. The chains are there to stop people riding across the road and getting killed. It's part of United Utilities requirements for us to be able to maintain the track there. UU are under no obligation to let us ride and build there, and we are very lucky to have the venue we have. It's come at great expense and through alot of hard work by a few dedicated people (thanks, you know who you are). Please don't ride there without permission, as you jeopardise it for us all. There is no secret club you have to be in to ride there. It is not a clique. There are keys available for the bottom gate and the padlocked chains, but hey, if you had permission to ride there, you would know that  Wink

If you are serious about riding there PM me and I'll give you the number of the man in charge.

I went to the DH track in macforest last weekend and the track has now been completley trashed by united utilities. they couldnt find any one to look after the track so they cut trees down to stop people riding it.

Actually it was both those reasons, the Nessit Hill Bike Club dispanded (shame they built a good course), and the chav who bust his knee was the final straw for the Rangers so they got busy with the chainsaw!

Anyone who would like to express an interest in riding DH in Macc Forest please post on pink bike (http://www.pinkbike.com/forum/listcomments/?threadid=40620), we are in the process of putting a proposal to the Rangers and United Utilities (can't promise anything but the more names the better we can convince them).

Diggers and people who can chip in with maintenance definetly welcome!

If I were you I'd keep it on the low. The only reason the track lasted so long was that it started out secret, it was locked with chains and "the public" were discouraged from riding there. Let the world know that the track has been ploughed, but don't let them know you want to rebuild it. United Utilities have no desire to be held responsible for the general public hurting themselves on their land. I think you stand more chance of getting some kind of course rebuilt if you approach United Utilities with a small band of dedicated riders and a promise that nobody else will ride there than you do with a list of 600 e-grom's names.
