Look on it this way.  The Irish have for years helped us out and supported all of our races.  They are very up for putting on a superb race that will really be an event.  You guys complain when you get the same s**t at every race and then complain when somebody does something new, interesting and something which will be remembered as a fantastic weekend.  The organisors  can't f'ing win.  Just do it guys, downhill is an expensive sport, just be a bit more organised over the winter in getting your s**t together.  it's not as if they are only giving you a c ouple of weeks notice, they're giving you over 7 MONTHS!  Hire a van, split it between three, stick all the kit in it and take another 4 or 5 in a seperate car.  Split the costs equally and you're sorted.

Actually, something else to say here.  People whinge at everything.  Oh it's too flat, oh it's too wet, oh it's too steep, oh it's not steep enough, oh it's too expensive.  Give over, no matter who was running it you will moan.  At least find something decent to maon about.  Would you rather race an event with bad practice, uplift and organisation or spend a little extra and get something that you will remember for the RIGHT reasons.  We do this knowing that it is an expensive sport.  Drink  pint less a week between now and then and you will save up the money without any effort whatsoever.  And it's not as if you are going to have two expensive races in the season with the possibility of Ft Bill not being available.  Come on, lighten up and stop finding excuses to moan and instead embrace it and find ways to do it the cheapest way possible.

\cant practic
That cost along with the entry costs, camping costs, and not being able to practise the course easily before the races would put me and the team off. We wouldn't travel out there for it.
Great idea, but just makes it a bit too expensive
e
practice the course before the weekend?Huh? Surely this would test your riding skill to the limit and make it more fun.or can you only ride quick if you've sessioned the arse of a course for months before.
Its like Steve Peat getting to a new world cup and saying "im taking my bike and going home havent riden this before"

How many of the pro's had ridden in new zealand before this years wc??
Think its a great idea to expand the series just most people seem to moan at change
Get over it and ride your bike

To be fair, Al, most people have just said that they can't afford it. They're not moaning, in fact, many people have said its a good idea, myself included. But if you plain cant afford something, you can't afford it. They're not moaning - easy now! Smiley

Don't think it will work out that much more expensive for the southern area riders than a trip to Fort Bill little bit extra money will be well worth the experience. Would of though the si will look into local campsites to the track and it would be one hell of a fun weekend
Put my name down on that entry list now   Grin

Quite a few actually, the Oceana Champs was run at the same venue. Barel beat Hill, could have been interesting if he hadn't injured himself.

Fair enough but you get the point though that not everyone gets to travel to and practice the tracks before hand
I'm in South wales so got an advantage on the dragon tracks but any scottish tracks will be blind for most south wales riders if they run different tracks somtime

To whoever initially moaned about new (to them) tracks:
So what?! Its good to ride new tracks!

If you still do well/better than a local, you can feel extra good about yourself!

 Roll Eyes

Anyway, its a good idea I reckon, although i think its unlikely I'll make it over.

Because of the World Champs being at fort Bill in 07 there is a real chance the NPS will NOT be holding a round there, very sad I know, so that should free up those pounds for the road trip to Ireland.

Get on board for the CRAIC and the Guiness Wink

I think it's a pretty good idea, but only if there's enough rounds in the rest of the UK to cover not doing it.

If the NPS was an 8 race series (with the best 5 or 6 from eight), then you could easily pick and choose the rounds to do, and not be forced to do them all just to scrape to compete and get BC points.

We've got enough venues - why not hold them all over the place!

There are folk who would race in Northern Ireland, and promoting the sport over there would be a good thing. I wouldn't rule out doing it, just cus I've never been there.

All of this talk about having an NPS round in Ireland to support the Irish because they come and do our NPS is guff!

If you want to show solidarity go and do a round of the Irish NPS!

Simple really.

I think its an ace idea in principle, but wether it would work in practise is a different kettle of fish. i hope it would, and tbh i cant see it being 'that' more expensive that most southerners doing fort bill.

Something you might want to consider is running a full practise day on friday to make the journey a little more worth while, and have something more going on over the weekend that just a usual nps, kinda like the fatface weekender. A bar with decent Guiness would be a start.

Alternativly you could use a decent UK course like Bala or Rheola where you know you would get a full turn out. These i think are two of the best courses and just dont get the use they should. Seems such a waste.

just a thought.

Sam - Have you not heard about the night time plans for next year then, they include Marquee with DVDs and few more surprises, plus the usual stuff.

Fort Bill is not part of the NPS for 07, real shame :'(, due to tourists and the World Champs we can't get a date to fit in with our plans.
