Surely just a big do or die jump would do that much better than that though?
It can be rolled but costs a few seconds so the men jump it and make up time, the boys roll it and loose time.....

Yea but it was different and more fun, after it was filled in it just wasn't as good

Imagine a double with a large gap in the middle, the put the middle of a table in there so there is a takeoff, 1 metre or so gap, flat middle, 1 meter or so gap, then a landing. Its very similar to a step up to step down. But can be doubled, hop up to hop down or manualed.....all sorts. Did you get that? Grin

you should put in a wallridewith a big gap underneath it and the chickenrun  can go under the wall ride (kind of like the crossover jump but a wallride instead) that would be ace

mix it up as much as possible, make sure you leave some bits for good lines for passing, i like the stpdown straigh out of the gate idea maby then a double in to a berm then you can mix it up with some fast berms and big doubles, maby a four pack that you can ither pump jump all of them or double them then if youv ever watched earthed theres a nice looking track with sort off smooth rolling mogules almost like braking bumps right across the track into almost flat verry shallow berms thatd be good, put a step up in there some where, its realy hard to say it needs some variation but if each corners different then itll just get muddled and loose the flow.

good luck!

the different size jumps means you actually need a bit of skill to judge the speed you need for each one, rather than mindlessly blasting the lot flat out.

you deffinatly need to create pinch points along the course, places where the riders are going to bunch up and be able to pass. theres too many tracks where the winner is decided after the first couple of corners.

features id like to see would include, a tabletop with two landings. ie. there is a big take off 5-6foot flat and one small landing then another flat section and a second landing. this means that most riders will do the smaller table but there's also the option to jump the lot. there's something like this after the first corner at hamsterley, although the second landing is maybe a little too far away for all but the best riders. (i destroyed a back wheel coming up short on it  Roll Eyes)

i also like the first corner at the moelfre track. there was those that pinned it over the first jump and then railed around the berm but if you backed off of the pack a little you could dive up the inside and come out at the front of the pack. it did mean the two racing lines crossed but this just added to the entertainment.

it'd also be good to see a decent sized drop on another track as fort bill is the only one really. and i'll also second the idea of some fast flat corners, but maybe also a really wide corner thats tight and flat in the middle and almost a big curved wall ride around the outside.

anyway thats my two pence worth.... let us know what the decisions you come to tomorow.

From what i know sherwood pines hasnt got much in terms of hillside.
The track will without a doubt need a nice big start ramp, and then i would take a look at inspiration from bmx tracks as they are more commonly placed on the flat.
See if you can get some pics of the plot of land they are giving up for this, then maybe people can understand what will work and what wont.

For the love of god please ignore bmx tracks, look at leamington and sheffield and you want the opposite so its actually a 4x track

its rubbish, big jumps to small jumps are asking for gyp, then going into big ones again, with no space to speed up, jeezas, its simple design layout, it ruins the flow of the track having it like hammers,

Well i went to view the site this morning,

I'm afraid i can tell you now there's not gona be a decent 4X track there.
I'ts going to be more of a 4X/dual descending downhill run with a few jumps and burms.

The ground is totally the wrong type of soil and the pine trees can't be felled.
There is also no funding just a jcb and volunteers such as myself so there's no chance of bringing soil in from elsewhere.

I'm gona continue to help and get it as good as possible but as i say there's no funds and the insurance won't cover anything too gnarly.

Shame really as if someone put some cash into it it could be awesome as there is a possibilty for three runs all really long.

It's not particularly steep either but i'm sure we can get it half decent.

I'll keep you all posted on progress, thanks for everyone's suggestions

Yer, as i say it'l be done as good as possible with the resources i'm sure.
The main downfall will be the lack of quality soil.
It's really sandy and as i say there's no money to get any brought in.
Decent planning is key.
I've pointed Becky in the right direction today as some of the lines were quite off, which are hopefully now going to be cleared so we'l see what happens.
Bloody excited that there's gona be somewhere to ride thats local to me soon though.
