Time to rebuild it like it should have been.

I find the superstar kevlar pads work fine when cold, but when they get hot they get weirdly grabby and cause my brake to vibrate. I've only had them in for a couple of rides, so I'm still working it out, but its very noticeable and swap to Shimano resin pads stopped all the vibration, which returned again when I put the Superstar pads back in. Weird. Shame, cos when cold, they work well.

Ride fast, take chances. Just don't blame me when you fall off.

had superstar kevlar pads in my Hope V2's for morzine last year and the noise was at least useful in making me stay off the brakes. could hear them miles away i swear.
but.
good power, mine haven't delaminated, lasted well in the uk. got em on my trance trail bike which uses M4's - these don't scream like the V2's in morzine. perfectly fine.

Went to Morzine France this summer with Standard sintered AVID pads some Quad sintered and superstar Kevlar. I don't proclaim to be the fastest rider but Mr average competent and prepared to be challenged.
I found the standard Avid expensive but safe I also found the Quad a safe pad. Safe = they stop they do not over heat the brake calliper on large very steep descents and work for Mr average.
Unfortunately I found the Kevlar pads to be a death trap for me and my riding style, they generate incredible heat which cause the brakes to fade and eventually fail.
If you ride very fast and brake very hard at the last minute they might work for you but any prolonged dragging on very steep tracks will cause the brakes to be cooked.

Great pads.  Had my reservations about them due to them being soft compound but after a running them on local trails and then a week in the alps they've been perfect.

They make a bit of noise but i blame that on poor bike setup!

Run on all my bikes now and won't hesitate to buy again.

just had a week in alpe de huez and les deux alpes. the steep trails of a.d.huez were a good test of the pads! jesus. went through a pair of the front ones in a week. a friend who was trying not to drag brakes went half way through the backing by the 5th day! last a year+ on my trail bike in the UK and 1 week on a dh bike in the alps. never failed to stop me though. love em

I had the opposite experience with them..

Love them in the UK, though in france I was going through them no end - as where my mates.

Granted, I was using 4 pot saints with a 180mm rotor so its going to get through them, but im talking changing pads each day in the rear. One day it wore through so much that the metal backing has destroyed my rear rotor (its comical how thin it now is).

ok update. they have been great for me and i would not think twice about ordering more. I used them for a full week in france front and rear and they hardly even wore down at all. Good power through out and not a single issue. good job superstar.

I bought these before going out to France.

I think we need to be more specific about the riding condiions we experienced out there this year. Some people had it super dry and dusty, other's not so much (me) Smiley

I went through a pair every second day, at which point they were on the metal.
They were teriffic feeling, but as soon as it got a bit wet and muddy, they got raped.
My front brake was terribly noisy, so much so I thought my rotor was loose, as it sounded like metal was being shaken rapidly.

Excellent pad feeling, very very poor life in the wet, and horrendously noisy.
I'm going back to superstar sintered for my Avid Elixr's.

ps: you can hear them in this vid... and this was at low speed, the noise eaily got to 3x that noise.

(pps: before you laugh ... I thought it was a steep drop so I braked and pushed my front out in front of me, only to realise it was in fact a wee gap)
