First build with slapped together parts and dual ply dh tires, easily climbs and goes down a treat. 2 ring is obviously also an option for even easier climbs.

if your Bro has a Pitch then why not look at getting a 2010 Pitch Pro (which is a different colour to the 2008 Pitch - Specialized did not actually manufacture a 2009 Pitch range but sold 2008 overstock into the UK)
if you have a decent level of skill there is no way a good quality all-mountain bike would hold you back on the rougher, steeper terrain
most current all-mountain bikes with 66-67 degree head angles and 150-160mm of rear suspension are surprisingly capable on rough ground at high speed, unless you need a bigger bike purely as a "skill compensator"
its definitely worth pursuing a test ride on a good quality all-mountain bike as you will surprise yourself with what it is capable of, and it makes so much more sense for the UK terrain than a heavier, longer travel bike unless you are throwing yourself off cliffs every week or racing DH

They made the ride feel much more balanced. I rarely wound the forks down (TALAS), as the bike rode well with the forks fully extended. Forks might be for sale too...

the reason people on SDH will look but "not vote" is because this is not Pinkbike SDH forum members will look at a topic, and offer advice if they feel they have something to contribute, voting does not contribute anything useful when your list of preferred bikes is so varied in terms of the types of bike if you were asking people to choose between 4 all-mountain bikes, or 4 freeride bikes, you would probably get more response, and maybe some votes

orange 5 with a ccdb. My god that set up just takes anything you can throw at it. Pedals well but when you want to get more aggressive it feels like a 7" bike the quality of the travel is so good

Sx trail, light as for what it is and the abuse it can take, people even stick longer travel forks on them and race dh on them, also very plush and bottomless for having the travel it does.

You've narrowed it down to those bikes, and the same three keep coming up - SX, Mbuzi or an Orange 5. We've given a fair amount of information as to why we think those bikes - and if you want any more, just search in Kit and Equipment for the SX or the Orange 5 and you're granted to find out how favoured those particular bikes are.
Personally I'd say I like the Mbuzi, but I don't know how it pedals, so I'd go for the Orange 5.
YOU decide, it's YOUR bike.

My mate snapped his DH bike in france and used his pitch instead, he flew. Prob faster than most people out there and went bigger than most too. If you say would hold you back, its not the bike its you.
