Where can i get some cheap shock mounts? I bought a heavy duty set off TF Tuned, thinking for 14 quid i'd be getting both ends of the shock.... nope, just one!

Where can i get the normal top hat shock mounts for a M8x22mm frame, for Fox DHX.5...?

Thanks

If you think about it, the parts are all custom machined for each size of spacing and shock therefore its not really expensive. One of those things ull have to give in and pay at the end of the day.

Hardly custom machined are they.... quote from TF 'we have thousands of them' to the size i asked for...

They're just a tube of aluminium, reduced to size on a lathe and cut to size with the burrs taken off. Same goes for the spacers which go either side of the shock....

Regardless of if you like the price or not that's the going rate for HD hardware.  The steel pins and bushes last a s**t load longer than the two piece aluminium top hat spacers (that also have a nasty habit of bending shock bolts too).  In fact, the steel pin on the bottom end of my V10 (which has turned blue/purple on the surface that mates with the DU bush) is still going strong after 12 months despite being the hardest working of the two on the bike.  Only one DU bush in that time too - ridden vitrually every weekend, two weeks solid riding in france, 14 days racing/riding at ft bill etc.  If you really want them I'm pretty sure TF have the top hat spacers available to hand if you ask for them or if not then Mojo is likely to offer them but IMO they're a false economy.

Well done you! I haven't worn out the top reducer hats on my shock, and I've been using it for over 2 years, riding over 4 months in Les Alps over two years, and races in UK and Europe. Not even a bent shock bolt either. As long as they're kept away from mud, they're not that bad at all. Now we're done with the willy waving... lets get back to business.

Can you really say that one piece of tubing of steel [which is cheap as chips], and a few spacers and a bushing costs 14 quid?! The profit margin on mount kits must be massive! I just don't see how they can justify it that's all.

Unfortunately I will have to pay for it.... as we pay over the odds for everything, but then that's our sport.

No cheaper alternatives?

Think I'll just try and do that... seems like standard high carbon steel. The rubber bits which come with TF packs just seem like unnecessary fancyness!

Was tempted to do it before.... don't know why I didn't tbh!
