Core Bike 2010

Today Southerndownhill went to Silverstone for a 2 wheeled event, Core Bike Show.  Read on for some info on new products and loads of snaps

The Sunn Radical seems to have adopted a new shock guard to keep out the muck, not sure how durable it looks though with only one fixing point to the frame.

Sunn also had a nice new Titanium hardtail on display.  This was just built up for the show but the production bike will be kitted out with the latest from Sram X0.

New IBS Mojo Sl with DW Link – nicknames the light one, well i want one!

Crank Brothers Opium Downhill Wheelset.  Not new now, but they keep on drawing me in. £699.99 with a two year warranty.  Not so sure what I would do if a spoke snapped in the Alps though...

Merida bikes where showing off a lot of their bikes at Core.  This is one of their UMF bikes, the hardcore bikes of their range so to speak.  Unfortunately this was the only one they had at the show, but we will be looking into some of their other bikes soon including a DH rig.

Merida love their carbon bikes and look to be doing it very well.  They claim to have the stiffest carbon XC hardtail (which has 10mm of rear axle travel) and full suspension available on the market.

This is what you would find on the inside of the Merida, carbon tech!

Spent quite a while in the Silverfish room, lots of interesting bits for DH riders.

First off is this brilliantly modelled brand new THE kit.  Trousers, shorts and shirt all fitting the bill looking durable, with pockets and not breaking the bank.  The shirt has had quite a lot of design thought going into it ventilation wise but has ended up quite heavy.

The Mondraker Summum weighting up at an impressive 35.2LBS.  How light are we going to be in five years time?  You may have to wait five years if you want one of these though...
Oh, and our very own World Champion!

Also spotted this mud guard branded by THE, not sure ifs its by Neo guard or if THE have launched their own version.  Design wise it’s the nicest looking one iv come across.

Wide bar really are everywhere now, here are the Race Face Atlas FR with ½ inch rise at 785 wide!

Image

Silverfish now bringing the Elka shock into the UK, so if your after something a little different look no further.

New G Spot

This is Mondraker’s old Tech now but at £2500 for a full bike i expect we will be seeing alot of these!

The cheaper Mondraker Summum, long and slack!

The Mondraker Dune range are sure to be big sellers as well

Race Face Six C Carbon cranks with half bash.  Scott Beaumont has been running these on his 4X race machine tail end of last season and they have held up without a problem.  Get these on your trail centre bikes.

Race Face are now involved with D30 and have got a range of knee pads as well as introducing it into glove protection.

SDG have introduced a range of jump seats using the ibeam set up.  These seats differ by having the ibeam bracket right up under the seat allowing you to slam the saddle lower than the tyre (all the rage now)

On to a new range of products bought in by Silverfish, Evoc.

First up Evoc have produced a bike bag which unlike many other bike bags, seems to do the job quite well.  The bag has specific straps for the forks and bars as well as having a block to sit the chainstays on so the bike actually fits well.  The bike in this bag has a 140mm travel fork but there is loads of room to get a full DH rig in.  The bag has wheels one end which are widely spaced to make pulling it a little easier.  Evoc have really thought this oiut, they have even put the wheel compartments the rolling wheel end of the bike to keep the weight in the right place for pulling your heavy rig around the airports.

Evoc are also entering our market with a range of riding bags.

The bags can take Hydro packs (not supplied), fit helmets on the back and even have a CE approved back plate which is replaceable and size specific.  Perfect for those trips in the alps or events such as the Mega Avalance.
There are loads in their range, check them out here www.evocsports.com

More Core Bike shots to come from the likes of DMR, Alpinestar, Identiti and Renthal
