It was time for some new shoes, some times a quick and easy task, but sometimes and long stressful journey of finding a pair that fit well, look good, are comfortable and are going to take a beating when they get stamped on metal structures with small screws sticking out! My shoe of choice for riding on flats has always been a pair of Vans with waffle grip. Waffle grip rocks! Its diamond shaped holes across the whole sole of the shoe give fantastic grip on almost any flat pedal, the shoes look good, are comfortable and they seem to pop up a hell of a lot cheaper that other similar shoes on the market. So I head off to the shops knowing in the back of my mind that I am almost certainly going to be bringing back a pair of shoes in a box labelled Vans!

For the first time in a while the big tick trade mark sticks out to me from the shelf. It’s a "skate" style shoe, with a Nike tick on the side and its been designed with riding in mind!

Looking closer at the shoes they are very well made with great stitching across all materials over the entire shoe. They have a good set of laces in them and come with a spare set in a different colour if they go snap or you fancy a change. The tongue is also held down with a strong piece of elastic on each side to help hold it on your feet that little bit better when it’s needed the most. The main body of the shoes in mainly made from leather which is a bonus when trying to clean them although then news ones also come in suede. The inner sole is almost gel-like to keep your feet that little bit comfier and with the Nike air system as well you know they will treat your feet well.

Riding bikes, we are obviously looking for a strong and grippy sole as I explained earlier. The Nike 6.0 series has it all. It’s made from an extremely tough yet is flexible enough to give you the grip needed. It uses a square and cross pattern on the bottom which I think is just as grippy as waffle grip if not better!?

Overall I think this is a great shoe for mountain biking and wearing casually. They are probably the comfiest skate style shoes I have ever had, they perform really well on the pedal as well and they look cool! Iv had a pair for over a year now and they have seen downhill tracks at the weekend and the street bike during the week and I wore them casually before they got too tatty for ages. They look raged now but have done me proud, so I have brought another pair. Top Buy!

And if you haven’t already seen it, click yourself on to Nikes flash website for the NIKE 6.0 shoe range. The website has loads of vid’s, pictures, some cool backdrops for your desktops and loads of MUTANTS! Have you found one? They have also hocked up with loads of young hot talent over a wide range of extreme sports this year including the UK’s Solid UKs rider Sam Dale.
